A Poetic Interlude

With a worldwide pandemic in full swing, lockdown, riots, fire, and climate change, a million other scary things are happening in the world right now. I wanted to share a few poems so everyone can take a break. So grab a cuppa, or drink of your choice, perhaps something a little stronger (it's 5 o'clock somewhere) and take a step back from reality into a little corner of comfort.

NOTE: As much as I wish I had, none of these poems were written by me!

Never trust a mirror,

For a mirror always lies,

It makes you think that all you're worth,

Can be seen from the outside,

Never trust a mirror,

It only shows you what's skin deep,

You can't see how your eyelids flutter,

When you're drifting off to sleep,

It doesn't show you what the world sees,

When you're only being you,

Or how your eyes just light up,

When you're loving what you do,

It doesn't capture when you're smiling,

Where no-one else can see,

And your reflection cannot tell you,

Everything you mean to me,

Never trust a mirror,

For it only shows your skin,

And if you think that it dictates your worth,

It's time you looked within.

- Erin Hanson

We have calcium in our bones, iron in our veins,

carbon in our souls, and nitrogen in our brains,

93 per cent stardust, with souls made of flames,

we are all just stars that have people names.

-Nikita Gill

"There's too much risk in loving".

The young boy said.

"No".

Said the old man.

"There's too much risk in not."

-Atticus
